FBEC: A Memorable Food and Beverage Conference

Last week Intelexians Steve Buffett and Bevin Lyon were in Cambridge, Maryland to celebrate the 43rd Annual Food and Beverage Environmental Conference (FBEC).

Food and beverage companies gathered to share industry knowledge on topics from wastewater treatment, presented by Intelex client Bimbo Bakeries, to air compliance strategies from Frito-Lay Inc.

The conference is a long standing tradition for many of the participating companies, even described by some attendees as a getaway or a retreat. Conference dress code is business casual, and it’s strictly enforced: as a first-time attendee Steve was warned not to wear a tie unless he wanted it snipped off his neck with a pair of scissors!

“This was my first conference like this!” was all Steve could say when asked about the experience. With events like clay shooting and an oyster hatchery tour, it’s no wonder that this conference stands out from many others Intelex attends. … Read more...

The annual event kicked off over the weekend with a family night and an opening concert performed by the Goo Goo Dolls.

This year’s theme, “To Boldly Go,” is in full force, with pizza cutters in the form of the famous NCC-1701 Enterprise ship and Star Trek characters drawing attention as they wander around the hotel. Intelex Solutions Specialist Brett McLennan (pictured to the right with a new friend) is getting into the spirit of things!

The agenda for the rest of the week includes a volleyball tournament, oven training from Papa John’s exclusive oven distributor, Middleby Marshall, and … Read more...

Notes from the Municipal Service Delivery Officials Conference

Jason Fitzpatrick is down at the MSDO conference in Ajax where David Forget, Manager of Quality and Special Projects, from The Town of Ajax just presented on the town’s quality system, ISO 9000 registration (they were the first municipality in North America to be fully registered), and their use of Intelex as a tool in their Quality Management System (QMS).

David spoke on how the QMS not only enhanced customer service to the town’s citizens but also benefitted the organization’s work environment for its employees. After a recent poll of the Town’s citizens, 96% of people wanted the town to maintain ISO registration.
