Welcome Aboard! Why Onboarding Is an Important Part of the Intelex Hiring Process

New hire onboarding is key to making new Intelex employees feel welcome and engaged.

Intelex was awarded a Silver medal in Brandon Hall Group’s 2021 Excellence in Learning and Development, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Sales Performance, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Future of Work Awards for Best New Hire Onboarding Program.

Starting your new dream job can be stressful. New coworkers. New processes. New passwords. Even finding the coffee/tea station and bathrooms feels like a chore when you’re being bombarded with information, names and instructions.

New hire onboarding is key to making new employees feel welcome and engaged. That’s why Intelex views onboarding as a critical starting point for the company culture, engagement and tenure of an employee. Our goal is to make the onboarding process a warm and well-structured welcome experience that takes place starting at 5 days before the new employee’s start date and lasting until 90 days after the start of employment and sets the tone for that employee’s entire career with the company.

Barara Malik recently participated in the Intelex New Hire Onboarding Program. Barara, who is a mid-market account executive in our EMEA office, admitted she was a little apprehensive about joining a new company in a completely new industry to her, during COVID. “There would be no face-to-face meeting with anybody and no chance to really get to know the people I would be working with,” she explained.

“However, the whole onboarding experience was much better than I anticipated and allowed me to understand how my opco fits into the wider Fortive world. My manager and team also made me feel part of the team from day one and there was—and still is—so much support I’m getting from everyone, which has made the whole experience so much easier and much more positive than I had thought,” said Barara.

Even the experts agree that Intelex has a great onboarding program. Recently, Intelex was awarded a Silver medal in Brandon Hall Group’s 2021 Excellence in Learning and Development, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Sales Performance, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Future of Work Awards for Best New Hire Onboarding Program. Brandon Hall Group is a research and analyst firm, with more than 10,000 clients globally and more than 20 years of delivering research-based solutions that empower excellence in organizations.

The entries were evaluated by an international panel of independent industry experts, Brandon Hall Group senior analysts and the executive team. Judging was based on the following criteria: fit the need, design of the program, functionality, innovation and overall measurable benefits.

“The challenges faced by a global SaaS company require a resilient and flexible onboarding strategy,” said Bryan Humphries, Director of Talent Acquisition at Intelex. “Our program has been tested in these uncertain times and flourished; quickly transitioning to successfully support hiring 132 employees in 2020 despite the uncertainty of the times and high volume of participants.”

About the Intelex New Hire Onboarding Program

Intelex’s corporate onboarding program is a continuously evolving and agile program that flexes to the needs of the business and the new hires within a well-established process facilitated by a blended learning format. Being centralized through the Learning and Development Department (L&D) within Human Resources means that all communication to the new hire and the team receiving the employee is consistent and all new hires receive a similar experience from the week before their start date to the end of their first week.

Touch points throughout their first 90 days with Intelex means that new employees continue to feel supported beyond their initial onboarding. Based on the need to scale and take on a blended approach for a global workforce, Intelex designed the program to include a connected and seamless process that includes all departments involved making a new hire’s experience successful: Talent Acquisition, IT, HR Operations, HR Managers, Managers, Buddies and L&D.

The program will continue to add supports and reiterate as the company grows and acquires other companies in the future. The absolute core of the program is built on meaningful feedback from around the business including new hires and tenured employees. Intelex understands the importance of corporate onboarding and plans to continue to invest in a world class program that sets each individual up for success in their roles.
