Well, our coveralls may be a little stained and our gloves may be a little blackened by the dirt, but we at Intelex can celebrate another successful community clean up!
In advance of Earth Day (Monday, April 22) the City of Toronto held its annual Corporate Clean-Up Day today, and Intelex participated in full force. Last year we made our way up to Toronto’s beautiful Trinity Bellwoods Park to collect litter from the park grounds, but this year we decided to take it to the streets. Just before noon about 30 Intelexians donned white coveralls and green gloves before heading out to pick up any garbage we could find around our headquarters at King and Strachan. Members of the Green Team as well as other interested Intelexians scavenged the grounds surrounding our office, looking for any litter we could find and putting it in its proper place. We found tons of cigarette buts, glass shards, plastic waste, wrappers, discarded containers, nails, shoes…you name it, we reclaimed it!
The annual Corporate Clean-Up is a great event, but at Intelex we realize that truly being Green is more of a way of life and a mindset, and as such we strive to mitigate environmental impacts wherever and whenever we can. In fact, today’s event follows a string of recent achievements for the Green Team at Intelex. In the past year alone we’ve slashed paper consumption through a paper conservation program, implemented Dyson hand dryers (to replace paper towels) throughout all our office bathrooms, constructed and tended to a beautiful organic garden on our patio, and expanded a highly successful organics recycling program, among other notable green achievements.
Looking ahead, we’re planning to launch a comprehensive power conservation program, install motion sensor lights in our washrooms, and restore our organic garden. We’re always trying to come up with new ideas to minimize our environmental impacts. Got any green ideas for us? Let us know or provide your suggestions in the comments section below.
In the meantime, have a great Earth Day and stay green!
