Undeterred by the current economic situation, high-revenue companies continue to be environmentally conscious. According to the 2008 "What Directors Think" survey conducted in the US, "corporate boards of directors have taken on a growing role in overseeing the risks and opportunities associated with corporate responsibility and sustainability (CR&S) and climate change."
The survey showed that approximately half of the respondents "believe that attention to CR&S issues is integrated into their companies' business strategy and risk management."
It is encouraging to know that these organizations acknowledge the "interdependencies between environmental, social and financial performance." Results like these demonstrate a great example for other companies to follow.
