A little southern hospitality with Baptist Health South Florida

by Kyle Dodsworth Monday, November 28, 2011

Hey! Kyle here, Intelex Account Manager and Team Lead. Last week I had the pleasure of traveling to Miami to visit Baptist Health South Florida, one of our fantastic clients. The folks at Baptist are close to going live with their document control system (they're targeting a soft launch in December and a full launch in February).

Jim Thomas, a Baptist Project Manager, invited me to come down to say hello and talk about progress with system implementation.

But more importantly, while I was there we got to take in a good ol' hockey game! Turns out Jim and his supervisor Andrew Friedman – who I have known for a couple of years now – are also BIG Pittsburgh Penguins fans, and the team just happened to be in town while I was there!

So before the game, we met up for dinner and I took the opportunity to show off Intelex's remote capabilities, accessing the system on both an iPhone and an Android phone. Then we headed off to watch the Penguins take on the Florida Panthers at the Bank Atlantic center. I snapped a few pics while we were there.

That's Andy in the bottom left, and the top right shot shows Pascal Dupuis of the Penguins taking a shot on the Panthers' Jose Theodore. Florida ended up winning 3 - 2.

All-in-all a great time. Nothing like a little Southern Hospitality from our friends at Baptist!

Baptist Health South Florida, one of Intelex's many clients in health care services, is the largest faith-based, not-for-profit health care organization in the region, with an outstanding reputation for medical and service excellence. Its network of services extends throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe Counties with Baptist, Baptist Children's, South Miami, Homestead, Mariners and Doctors Hospitals, and Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute.

When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Growing!

by Lauren Craig Tuesday, November 01, 2011

With Halloween in the dust and an honourable mention to Intelex’s very own Brandyn Berry for the stylin’ Michael Jackson costume he moon-walked through the office last Friday, today marks the start of the Movember fundraising campaign, both globally and here at Intelex. For those who haven’t heard of Movember, it’s a campaign that raises funds and awareness for prostate cancer and is best credited for the majority of entertaining and unique moustaches you’ll see during the month of November. Throughout the month Mo Bros (as they are affectionately called) “donate their face” to the cause and cultivate a fancy moustache, collecting donations for their efforts while they grow. As they effectively become walking, talking billboards for the campaign, Mo Bros raise awareness and promote discussion around the often ignored issue of men’s prostate health. And while the growing is typically left up to the men, women also have the opportunity to take part in raising awareness by becoming a Mo Sista and supporting their Mo Bros.

To find out more about the Movember movement visit the website.

If you’d like to support Movember or start your own team, get involved here.

Moustache Season. Now Open.

Intelex Donates $2350 to the Daily Bread Food Bank 2011 Fall Drive

by Lauren Craig Tuesday, October 25, 2011

For the third year in a row, Intelexians were invited to make monetary and food donations to helpToronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank with its Fall Drive. Intelex staff donated a total of $1,175 and just like last year, President and CEO Mark Jaine pledged that the company would match all donations made during the drive, which ran at our office from September 21, to October 14, 2011.

Thanks to the many generous people in our office, Intelex was able to contribute a total of $2,350 toward Daily Bread’s goal for its 2011 Fall Drive. We also collected about 30 lbs of non-perishable food items that will be delivered to a local drop-off location.

Daily Bread Food Bank is a non-profit, charitable organization that is fighting to end hunger in communities across the Greater Toronto Area. Every year thousands of people across the GTA rely on food banks and Daily Bread serves the majority of these people through neighbourhood food banks and meal programs in its member agencies. In 2010, there were over 794,000 client visits to over 170 of Daily Bread’s member agencies food banks and meal programs.

Thanks again to everyone who donated to Daily Bread Food Bank!

All in the family at Thyssen Mining

by Paul Leavoy Thursday, September 29, 2011

Intelex’s own Steph DiRaddo dropped by the head offices of Thyssen Mining (TMCC) in Regina, Saskatchewan last week, and she was blown away by the hospitality of the Thyssen “family”.

“It was incredible to see how welcoming the folks at Thyssen Mining are, and how tightly-knit a family environment they have created,” Steph remarked on her return. “We had dinner at a local restaurant that the Thyssen employees frequent, and they really made me feel like one of the family! I can’t wait to go back!”

As a member of Intelex’s training team, Steph visited TMCC to work with their safety team and train end users in advance of their go-live date in October. Thyssen is a leading mining contractor in the US and Canada and a world leader in shaft sinking.

Intelex's 2011 User Conference our biggest, boldest yet

by Paul Leavoy Tuesday, September 20, 2011

The 2011 Intelex User Conference wrapped up this past Friday, and guests and Intelexians alike had a blast. Three days of roundtables, training sessions, new product talks and more were punctuated by a great evening out at The Boiler House in Toronto's historic distillery district and a striking performance by A2D2, an aerial dance troupe.

As a new twist this year, attendees were also invited to participate in the discussion and provide insights and feedback on the event in real time through the #intelex2011 Twitter hashtag.

Virgin Atlantic's Jonathan Jasper (affectionately known as JJ) provided the keynote address at the event, discussing how he leverages the Intelex system – most notably, through the use of configurable iForms – to manage safety-related information and mitigate safety incidents and associated costs. I could go on, but IT World Canada's Dave Webb did a much better job in his article on JJ's talk and the relationship between Intelex and Virgin Atlantic.

All told it was a stellar event! Thanks to Client Relations Coordinator Lauren Craig and Marketing Manager Kristy Sadler for pulling the whole thing together! And a special thanks to the scores of guests who helped make it such a memorable event.

See y'all next year!

Reimplementation of the Intelex system at CUC a success

by Carmela Maia Monday, June 06, 2011

Intelex Training Specialist Purdal Mya recently visited long-time client Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, to help the company reimplement a system they had purchased a few years ago but hadn’t been using to its full capabilities.

Purdal (pictured left with CUC employees) spent four days at the company’s main facility working with system administrators to configure the system and to set up user-security based homepages to make the system as user friendly as possible for CUC employees. Purdal also facilitated sessions to educate end users on the system and to train them on how to use it most effectively. Then, using data that employees had been entering in recent years, Purdal was able to create simple metrics for the entire company to see. These reports showed everyone what the system is capable of. Training was also provided for Intelex’s EHS Incident Management solution, which CUC is going to start using in place of the Standard Safety Incidents (SSI) application it had been using until now. The move from SSI to EHS Incident Management will allow the company to track more than safety incidents. Now they can track property, vehicles, and spills.

Upon his return, Purdal said the “training was very beneficial to all attendees as they were unaware of the capabilities of what Intelex could do. Showing them the system, especially the platform features, really excited everyone at the company.”

With help from Intelex Project Manager Yasemin Hassan, CUC is now working towards transitioning from Standard Safety Incidents to the EHS Incident Management and finalizing the company’s Worksite Observation iForm®.

One week after Purdal was in Grand Cayman, CUC EHS and Training Manager Joey Ebanks was in Toronto for business and dropped by the Intelex office to present the company's success for all Intelex employees. Congratulations to everyone at CUC for a successful implementation!

Five Intelex users from Virgin Atlantic visit Toronto

by Carmela Maia Thursday, May 26, 2011

Last week, five employees from Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd. (VAA) spent three days in Toronto for Intelex training. The group will be VAA's newest Intelex power users, helping to support the airline's companywide use of the Intelex system.

Intelex Project Manager Anto Sandrasagra worked with VAA to create the training agenda, which was designed specifically for this group of users who are taking on Intelex system administrator roles at the company. Based on these new roles, the training included sessions on reporting, creating dashboards, managing documents, setting up users, and building iForms®. Intelex Training Specialist Dave McLean led the first round of training and Project Consultant Ceila Lee led the second, which focussed on iForms®.

At the end of day three, on their last night before heading back home to Crawley, England, a group of us enjoyed dinner on one of Toronto's most popular patios and then performed a few songs at a nearby Karaoke bar. The picture above is of us at the Black Bull with the CN Tower in the background. From far left (top row): Denhue, Carmela (that's me!), Dave, Anto and (bottom row): Adam, Yvonne, and Kim.

It's always a pleasure to have Intelex clients in our office and it was especially wonderful to meet another five VAA employees. We hope all of you will be able to join us again this September in Toronto for the 2011 Intelex User Conference!

Virgin Atlantic Airways developed its own customized Incident Reporting Management and Analysis System (IRMA) using Intelex's iForm® tool. The airline uses IRMA to track and report on all incidents and claims. See more Intelex clients or request a demo to learn more about Intelex’s iForms® system and other solutions.

Popularity of Intelex's online training webinars on the rise

by Carmela Maia Thursday, November 18, 2010

Intelex training webinars are hotter than ever! In the last year, Intelex Project Consultants and Training Specialists have facilitated 22 free training webinars for over 300 Intelex users. Our 30-minute training webinars are designed to be both introductions for new users and refreshers for users who are looking to enhance their use of a particular feature. Most webinar topics are suggested by Intelex users themselves. On occasion, we create a series focusing on new releases or popular topics.

Earlier this year, we offered five training webinars on new features available in 5.1, the most recent version of the Intelex system. Today, we’re half way through a series dedicated to the Intelex Reporting Suite. Starting with the most basic and leading up to the most complex, the Report Building series has been divided into four separate webinars. Not only is it a benefit for clients to learn in stages, it gives them an opportunity to practice building some reports before advancing to the next stage.

For Intelex users who aren’t available to catch the live webinars, Intelex has created a library of webinar recordings, which clients can access day or night on Intelex-Exchange, Intelex’s online client portal. Other videos in our library include instructional videos, client presentations from Intelex User Conferences, and messages from Intelex President and CEO, Mark Jaine.

Intelex users can view course details and register for upcoming training webinars on Intelex-Exchange. If you don’t already have access to the Intelex-Exchange, submit a request online.

Mission Foods Grows its iForm® Building Team

by Carmela Maia Monday, July 26, 2010

Though the company has fully implemented the Intelex Quality Management System (QMS) and iForms® System, Mission Foods is always thinking of new ways to improve processes and scale up with new initiatives.

Intelex Training Specialist Purdal Mya and iForm® Expert Augustine Chan recently spent three days with Mission Foods Corporate Headquarters in Irving, Texas, to lead system training for a group of 17 Intelex users (seen in photo). The training focused on basic and advanced iForms®, as well as reporting and dashboards.

When I called Carmen Olson, Corporate TQ Manager at Mission Foods, to ask how the training went, she said, “Having Purdal lead the training along with Augustine’s expertise on building iForms was the right combination. Everyone was fully engaged in the class, lots of questions, ideas and some fun too!”

Mission Foods/GRUMA S.A. is the world's largest producer of Maseca corn flour and tortilla products, with production facilities across the Americas, the UK, Holland, Italy and Asia. Its operations and sales extend to the US, Canada, throughout Central America (through Gruma Centro America), and into England, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

See more Intelex Clients or request a demo to learn more about Intelex’s iForms® System and other solutions.
