Intelex partners with airport experts to develop comprehensive FAA SMS solution

by Paul Leavoy Wednesday, March 07, 2012

Intelex has long had a presence in the aviation and aerospace sector. It’s a presence that is about to get a lot bigger thanks to a unique alliance with two aviation experts. Intelex has partnered with SITA, a global IT provider to the air transport industry, and JDA, a leader in aviation safety, certification and compliance services, to develop a complete airport safety management solution.

This robust solution will help airports achieve complete, effortless compliance with a key regulation that has been top-of-mind for most businesses in the sector lately: the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Part 139 SMS rule, due later this year. This mandate, which will affect more than 540 commercial airports across the United States, essentially requires airports to implement a safety management system (SMS). When the mandate comes into force, airports will have about 18 to 24 months to roll out a complete SMS solution.

Intelex and Virgin Atlantic featured in IT World Canada

by Paul Leavoy Monday, September 19, 2011

Intelex is pleased to announce it is currently featured in IT World Canada alongside Virgin Atlantic, which uses Intelex's web-based solutions for safety management.

The article follows Intelex's 2011 User Conference at Toronto's Fairmont Royal last week where Jonathan Jasper of Virgin Atlantic delivered Intelex's keynote address. IT World Canada author Dave Webb, who attended Jonathan's talk, noted at the event that it is rare for the client to deliver the keynote address at a vendor's user conference.

The article highlights how Virgin uses Intelex tools to manage safety incidents, including slips and falls, turbulence, disruptive passengers, even passenger headaches, all of which have to be documented thoroughly by an airline. As the article notes:

The airline runs only a few standard Intelex modules, prefering to develop its own customized iForms. “It becomes addictive. It becomes a bit of a hobby,” Jasper said. The airline has developed about 30 such modules. Now, “anyone with a shared spreadsheet” wants an iForm, Jasper said.

Virgin Atlantic uses 22 configurable security groups so those using the platform only see the data required for their job role. One-click buttons validate employee and flight information on reports. And all the forms are developed by business users.

Five Intelex users from Virgin Atlantic visit Toronto

by Carm Ela Thursday, May 26, 2011

Last week, five employees from Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd. (VAA) spent three days in Toronto for Intelex training. The group will be VAA's newest Intelex power users, helping to support the airline's companywide use of the Intelex system.

Intelex Project Manager Anto Sandrasagra worked with VAA to create the training agenda, which was designed specifically for this group of users who are taking on Intelex system administrator roles at the company. Based on these new roles, the training included sessions on reporting, creating dashboards, managing documents, setting up users, and building iForms®. Intelex Training Specialist Dave McLean led the first round of training and Project Consultant Ceila Lee led the second, which focussed on iForms®.

At the end of day three, on their last night before heading back home to Crawley, England, a group of us enjoyed dinner on one of Toronto's most popular patios and then performed a few songs at a nearby Karaoke bar. The picture above is of us at the Black Bull with the CN Tower in the background. From far left (top row): Denhue, Carmela (that's me!), Dave, Anto and (bottom row): Adam, Yvonne, and Kim.

It's always a pleasure to have Intelex clients in our office and it was especially wonderful to meet another five VAA employees. We hope all of you will be able to join us again this September in Toronto for the 2011 Intelex User Conference!

Virgin Atlantic Airways developed its own customized Incident Reporting Management and Analysis System (IRMA) using Intelex's iForm® tool. The airline uses IRMA to track and report on all incidents and claims. See more Intelex clients or request a demo to learn more about Intelex’s iForms® system and other solutions.

Virgin Atlantic Airways Goes Live with Intelex's EHSQ Software Solution

by JP Nadeau Thursday, November 05, 2009

Virgin Atlantic Intelex is pleased to announce that Virgin Atlantic Airways (VAA) has gone live with their Intelex Safety Management System organization-wide. VAA, one of the world's leading long haul airlines, employs over 9,000 people and has flown over 65 million passengers in its recently celebrated 25 years of existence. VAA first approached Intelex in search of a solution to unify their multiple incident reporting processes into a single streamlined application that could be accessible to all staff across the entire company. After an analysis of the functionality of the Intelex system to meet their requirements, the Intelex platform was selected as it allowed VAA to utilize proven Intelex modules as well as the versatile Intelex iForm® tool to create their own customized Incident Reporting Management and Analysis System (IRMA).

With the new 100% web-based system launched, all VAA employees can now access Intelex's system from any location. VAA is now actively monitoring and tracking all non conformances, maintaining auditor's checklists, proactively assessing risks, analyzing incidents and tracking, managing and reporting on safety meetings and employee training. By implementing an integrated Intelex solution, VAA was able to significantly increase the integrity and usability of the data they were capturing, all through a very simple and user-friendly interface. Congrats to everyone on both the VAA and Intelex teams who worked on this project to make it such a success!

Virgin Atlantic Airways Taking Off with Intelex

by Carm Ela Wednesday, July 08, 2009

Intelex’s Kulbir Bal and Meghan Mann just got back from another successful trip to Crawley, England where they spent two weeks at the Virgin Atlantic Airways (VAA) training facilities. It was the fourth trip for Kulbir and Meghan, who have been working with VAA to implement the Intelex System, which includes a number of configured Intelex Modules and the unlimited iFormsÒ Builder.

Meghan, seen here with Miss Suiteness, says VAA is really fun to work with; “they have a ‘work hard, party hard’ attitude, which is always a delightful combination. The project has been challenging at times, but the end product is well worth it. I anticipate the company’s future projects will be just as fun and challenging to work on.”

When asked about what makes VAA's use of the Intelex System unique, Kulbir responded: “Users can virtually enter the system and begin capturing data without any formal training at all. Now that’s an intuitive system! The reports automatically expand and show fields, which only appear as certain selections are made. For example, if a user makes a selection from the dropdown menu, three distinct fields may become available based on their selection. This creates a smart-form environment that triggers fields to appear only as required, thus increasing data integrity and usability. We introduced some new colours when painting the VAA Intelex canvas but the one that stands out from the rest is the presentation of a very simple interface that is powered by dynamic and intelligent database configurations.”

Congratulations to everyone at Virgin Atlantic and Intelex for making this project a great success on both sides!

Virgin Atlantic to Fly High with Intelex

by Maxim Ivlev Monday, December 08, 2008

From their recent trip to Virgin Atlantic Airlines, headquartered in Crawley, England, UK, Senior Project Manager Kulbir Bal and Project Consultant Meghan Mann were happy to report that Virgin Atlantic will soon be flying high with Intelex!

Using Intelex’s iForm System to help meet a corporate wide initiative aimed at standardizing and improving health & safety practices and processes, this particular two week effort involved Kulbir and Meghan working closely with the Virgin Atlantic team, reviewing deliverables and gathering requirements for the next phase of Virgin’s implementation (including requirement gathering for a vast array of Configurable Reports, Scorecards, Dashboards, and Charting).

With minimal issues detected through the first round of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Kulbir emphasized that, “the implementation picture looks to be in focus and we should be ready for takeoff in early ’09!”

From an enjoyable, daily round trip bus ride to and from Virgin headquarters with other members of Virgin's staff, to exploring Virgin’s crew training facility, complete with the fuselage of an ‘executive’ cabin which included an on-board bar where several scenes from the latest James Bond movie was filmed, both Kulbir and Meghan were quick to point out that the hospitality they received during their stay in Crawley was second to none.

Many thanks go out to Virgin and great job to all involved in the initial stages of implementation!
